The San Diego Music Awards started in 1991, as a way to recognize the achievements of our diverse local music community. Now in its 23rd year, the SDMAs presents awards in 27 categories. According to SDMA, all of the genre categories are voted on by the public. All of the album categories are voted on by members of the San Diego Music Academy, who are listed on the San Diego Music Awards website. The awards ceremony takes place Oct. 9 at Humphrey’s by the Bay. Here are this year’s nominees in the Hip-Hop category.
