Funkmaster Flex just premiered “Control (HOF),” a track cut from Big Sean’s sophomore album, Hall Of Fame, since they couldn’t get sample clearance. And there’s no better place to leak a track than our favorite big mouth DJ from the East coast. It’s indisputably 7-minutes, well actually 3-minutes of big beast lyricism.
I guess, this is Big Sean’s moment to resuscitate the beast emcee we haven’t heard yet.
I guess, he’s leaving the LadiesLoveBigSean behind to bring back his backpacker emcee to light.
I guess, Big Sean wants us to know he can go beasty on an off kilter atmospheric horror-like track.
But the cray-cray part is — after listening to the track — it was no longer about Big Sean’s concept album. It was all about K. Dot’s verse. And I could even hear Nas ask, “How Kendrick Lamar murder you on your own shit?” And he murdered Drake, Mac Miller, A$AP Rocky, etc…
Kendrick Lamar transformed himself into a ’90s NYC gutter-wrenching grime alter ego with a touch of M.O.P.’s growl signature to the mic with him. It got me talking. It got urban Twitter getting creative with TT’s:
#RappersKendrickDidntMention #KendrickDidntCallOut #Control #twitpicyourreactionafterhearingkendricksverse
And this is on the eve of Big Sean’s HOF album release.
All I know is, after listening to Kendrick’s verse I didn’t care to hear Jay ElectroniCA. I went back to CALI and rewinded the YouTube video back to K.Dot’s verse. #KINGofNY
