WTFlocka?! So now the Ophiuchus (snake holder) zodiac addition has pushed me back from Capricorn to Sagittarius? I know people around the world are pissed about tatting their zodiac sign on their bodies.
Astronomer Parke Kunkle, of the Minnesota Planetarium Society, says that due to changes in the Earth’s alignment the dates of many zodiac signs have changed which gives us the 13th Zodiac sign: Ophiuchus.
Kunkle says, “Because of this change of tilt, the Earth is really over here in effect and Sun is in a different constellation than it was 3,000 years ago…This means that if the sun was ‘in’ a certain constellation on a particular date, it is in a different constellation on that date today. For example, the sun was in Pisces on March 1, 2000 BC but it is in Aquarius on March 1, 2011 AD.”
So since the Earth’s wobble on its axis has created a one-month bump in the alignment of the stars, it has changed your zodiac sign, according to Kunkle.
Kunkle also adds that your horoscope reading won’t change much. Scientists say this rotation has been known about since 500 B.C. and the horoscope calendar hasn’t moved.
The sign Ophiuchus was thrown out by Babylonians B.C. because they didn’t like having 13 zodiac signs, even though there were 13 constellations.
