WTFlocka?! Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak shutting down Egypt’s internet is an outright robbery of freedom to information and technology. President Obama had a press conference to reveal his conversation with the Egypt president.

Obama’s address on Internet ‘kill-switch’ showed U.S.’s strong stance on the freedom to information technology. “There must be reform,” he said, “political, social and economic reforms that meet the aspirations of the Egyptian people.

Egypt’s capital has been set on fire by rioters. Mubarak said he was asking his government to resign and would soon announce a new one, pledging to address the concerns of thousand of Egyptians protesting in Cairo’s streets.

Several American sites–Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Hotmail and Google–as well as the Chinese search engine Baidu were blocked by Mubarak on Wednesday, Jan. 26. And on Thursday night, Mubarak pulled the ‘kill-switch’ to the Internet and also disrupted cell phone service.

According to tech security blogger James Cowie, the Egyptian government made an ‘unprecedented’ decision in interrupting Internet access.

“Every Egyptian provider, every business, bank, Internet cafe, website, school, embassy, and government office that relied on the big four Egyptian ISPs for their Internet connectivity is now cut off from the rest of the world. Link Egypt, Vodafone/Raya, Telecom Egypt, Etisalat Misr, and all their customers and partners are, for the moment, off the air.”

Murbarak pulling the ‘kill-switch’ to Internet and asking his administration to resign is questionable and tyrannical. MSNBC writer, M. Alex Johnson, says, “It’s clear that in today’s digital media world, the best thing a dictator can do to manage a crisis is try to shut off digital networks. Mobile phone networks and digital networks are what savvy students and civil society leaders use to spread their message. ”

Egyptians are not happy with Murbarak and his 30-year dicatorship. The Internet riots are being heard loud and clear around the world. Egyptians v.s. President Murbarak.
