Inland Empire rapper, 40 Glocc, has got the right idea in bringing unity to the west coast rap scene. He just dropped his latest video, “Welcome to California.” This could be the new west coast anthem follow-up to Ice Cube’s “I Rep That West.” The opening shot tells it all –you got “Deebo” from the film, “Friday,” getting menace to the camera by saying, “Welcome to California!” – basically don’t come to California on some buster-shti because gangsters don’t play when it comes to our Cali soil.
The video is filled with lo-los, L.A. landscape, RIP rapper tributes, and an all-star list of west-coast cameos from: E-40, Too Short, WC, MC Eiht, Ice T, Master P, Kurupt, Chill, Snoop Dogg, Xzibit, Alchemist – but hold up wait-a-minute, I thought there was a few west coast essentials missing like: Crooked I, Ras Kass, and Mack 10? But, then again, it’s hard to get rappers together on time for anything– not, “CP time,” I like to call it “rapper time.”
Like 40 Glocc tweeted, if you’re feeling “Welcome To California”:
