Wowzers! What a class-act performance by Katy Perry and PS22 on Oprah’s annual post-Oscars show! The fifth-grade singing sensations belted out “Firework” accompanied by a live orchestra and the pop princess, as projections of fireworks burst behind them.
“The kids completely rocked it, and Katy was in top form and the audience went nuts,” choral director Gregg Breinberg said. “I just don’t know how life can get any better at this point.”
This was the second time the Staten Island chorus sang on the glamorous Kodak Theatre stage. They also performed Oscars Sunday night, and got a standing ovation for their rendition of “Over the Rainbow.”
“Today was such a beautiful day. PS 22 & Oprah made ME feel like a firework… refocused me & reminded me of my purpose. Thank you,” Katy tweeted.
There’s nothing like hearing happy children sing their hearts out. The performance really leaves you exalted. Take a watch.
