Wowzers Cadowzers! You would never think that such a beautiful happy face would be going through some hard times. Just two months after being crowned Miss Colorado USA, Blair Griffith and her disabled mom were evicted from their townhouse and are now living with a family friend. Just when you think things couldn’t get worse for her, they did. Miss Colorado is scheduled to lose her job from Saks Fifth Avenue next month because the business will be shutting down for good.
Her father died from cancer when Griffith was just a young girl, leaving her widowed mother to care for her and her sibling. Just last year her mother suffered a severe heart attack and their medical bills are piling.
Despite being poor and what could be frowned upon by her beauty pageant peers, Griffith is being optimistic and says, “You do sit there and go, ‘Oh gosh, not again.’ But at the same time I think it’s almost like a test .. to see if you can handle it, and what will you make out of your situation.”
She tells Denver’s 9 News, “I have no place to complain about anything that’s going on in my life. There’s so many people that are going through the same exact situation. I hope to inspire people.”
The Miss USA pageant airs on NBC on June 19.
